Whether you choose to journey from Dehradun or Mussoorie, both paths offer accessible routes to reach Sankri. The approximately 8 to 10-hour travel time promises a continuously exciting and scenic adventure. Throughout the drive, the soothing melody of the Tons River will be your companion, while you pass through charming small towns in the Uttarkashi district, such as Purola. As you approach the final 22 kilometers leading to Sankri, you'll find yourself immersed in the beauty of Govind National Park, a sanctuary for a diverse array of flora and fauna. Traveling through such captivating landscapes will rejuvenate your spirit, washing away any lingering traces of fatigue. Sankri, our enchanting village destination, is nestled within the boundaries of this expansive national park. Upon your arrival in Sankri, you'll be greeted with awe-inspiring vistas of the Swargarohini mountain range. This presents a perfect opportunity to explore the area and capture the mesmerizing sunset against the backdrop of the Himalayas. Following a restful overnight stay in this picturesque village, we will embark on our trek the next day with renewed vigor and enthusiasm.
 Day 2 :   Sankri to Sikolta (2,700 m) | Trek: 4.5 km; 4-5 hrs
Our trek commences with a gentle ascent, leading us through a lush and dense forest where towering pine trees create a serene atmosphere. As we navigate this tranquil environment, keep your senses alert for the presence of native avian residents, including treepies, woodpeckers, and drongos. Continuing our uphill climb, we will eventually stumble upon a picturesque clearing in the forest, which hosts the only 'Dhaba' or local eatery we'll encounter during the trek. As a delightful bonus, if luck is on our side, we might even be serenaded by a villager playing melodious tunes on his flute. Upon reaching Sikolta, we'll take a moment to unload our backpacks and embark on an exploration to Juda ka Talab, a stunning alpine lake. From this vantage point, you'll also be treated to breathtaking vistas of distant, snow-covered peaks. We'll set up camp amidst this enchanting landscape, spending a memorable night in this picturesque setting before resuming our trek the following day.
 Day 3 :   Sikolta to Bhoj Gadi (3,700 m) | Trek: 4.5 km; 5 hrs
Continuing our journey through the forest, we'll soon arrive at a charming wooden bridge. As you cross it, take a moment to relish the soothing sounds of a babbling brook flowing beneath. Following this, a brief but invigorating uphill stretch will reveal the breathtaking "Karsu Thatch." Here, a lush expanse welcomes you with an abundance of yellow wildflowers, and an abandoned wooden house adds to the postcard-perfect scenery. The trail ahead is adorned with vibrant rhododendron blooms, eventually opening up to the picturesque meadow known as Bhoj Gadi. Surrounded by snow-capped peaks and expansive grasslands, this campsite is undoubtedly one of the most stunning on any Himalayan trail. From here, you'll be treated to mesmerizing views of the Kedarkantha and Swargarohini peaks. Take a leisurely stroll through this captivating area, which features a fascinating arrangement of stones and a log. Let the serenity of this place envelop you as you soak in the remarkable surroundings, offering a truly meditative experience.
Day 4 :   Bhoj Gadi to Pushtara (3,000 m) via Phulara Ridge (3,763 feet) | Trek: 8.5 km; 7-8 hrs
Start your day by witnessing a breathtaking sunrise, and get ready for what could be the most significant leg of your trek. After an hour of trekking from Bhoj Gadi, we'll make our way down to the iconic Phulara Ridge. Its slender edges gracefully descend into valleys on both sides, presenting a panoramic spectacle of some of the most captivating Garhwal Himalayan Mountain ranges. Here, you can immerse yourself in the sublime beauty of renowned ranges such as Swargarohini, Kalanag, and Bandarpoonch, among others. Describing this experience as awe-inspiring would be an understatement. Once we've traversed the ridge, our descent leads us into the picturesque expanse of Pushtara Bugyal, also known as the Pushtara meadows. A leisurely walk through these verdant greens provides a welcome contrast to the exhilarating climb. This area is adorned with a rich variety of flowers, including the rare Brahmakamal and Fankamal. With such an abundance of beautiful blooms, Phulara Ridge truly lives up to its name. As you tread lightly, keep your eyes peeled for the elusive Monal pheasant, the official state bird of this region. We will establish our camp in the midst of these ethereal surroundings, offering a captivating setting for an overnight stay.
Day 5 :   Trek from Pushtara to Taluka and drive to Sankri | Trek: 10 km; 7 hrs
Today marks the beginning of our return to civilization. As we progress along the trail, we will head towards the village of Taluka. After traversing the lush Pushtara meadows and passing through verdant forests, we will continue our journey through the remaining trail. Along the way, you'll encounter numerous beautiful yellow wildflowers, evoking fond memories of your expedition. Additionally, keep an eye out for playful groups of 'langoors' gracefully moving through the treetops, a delightful spectacle of their mischievous antics. As we approach the latter part of our trek, we will gradually come across scattered settlements, ultimately reaching the picturesque village. Here, we will receive warm welcomes from the friendly villagers and inquisitive children who may request a sweet treat or two. This charming Himalayan settlement offers a glimpse into the uncomplicated lives of its inhabitants. A vehicle will transport us back to Sankri, where we will spend the night.
